The HWTE Electrical Engineering Instrument Team is working on an innovative test instrument solutions to Apple product for the electrical performance of iOS devices. The System Instrument Design Architect Engineer is responsible for architecting every the new instrument from early concept phase to detailed block diagrams that can be completed. This work includes close collaboration with both internal and external technology, silicon and module development teams on new feature exploration and improvements, definition of key instrument and/or chipset selection and nailing down instrument capability and trade offs. The candidate ideally has strengths in several functional areas to lead, drive or influence instrument module roadmaps and feature definitions. You should have experience analyzing systems, making architectural and implementation trade-offs; design of dedication, high quality, low cost instrument solution; scope component area requirements, interconnect requirements, integration challenges, Signal & Power integrity, Electromagnetic coexistence and power budgeting and analysis. This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills.

Description

Review & influence module roadmaps; keep current with technology trends; Multi-functional collaboration with other module and SW teams Work with x-functional engineering managers and architects on HW/SW enabling technologies Build internal and external instrument specifications requirement Review & influence system DFT decisions Define, simulate, and model product performance vs. power, area, cost and schedule. Define, develop, and apply tools, scripts for system modeling and analysis; tool and model development and maintenance Assess and supervise product system integration risks & implementation trade-offs with early prototype studies Use schematic and layout tools such as Cadence Concept & Allegro; develop new and novel methods of pre-route mentorship Assess hi-speed interface needs Predict & prepare for future product system integration & interconnect needs Prototyping, bring-up and debugging Position may require some domestic and international travel

Minimum Qualifications

  • You have 10 yrs+ experience in system-level design for consumer electronics and embedded programming experience are strong pluses!
  • You are hands-on in prototype bring-up and debugging, functional verification, manufacturing support, and have crafted and influenced system specification documents

Preferred Qualifications

  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with your strong project and time management experience lending to your ability to drive multiple projects concurrently. We are a team of very fast learners across HW and SW engineering fields (be broad) with a highly curious about how and why things work and an outstanding intuition.

Pay & Benefits

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
