Operate and monitor all equipment and processes in the refinery to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks on equipment to identify and troubleshoot any potential issues.
Monitor and control process variables such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates to ensure product quality and maximize productivity.
Identify and report any abnormalities or deviations in process conditions and take corrective action when necessary.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate and execute daily tasks and address any operational issues.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of equipment performance, process conditions, and any incidents or maintenance activities.
Continuously seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Adhere to company policies, procedures, and values, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements.
Participate in training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills related to refinery operations.

Job Qualifications

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Requirement For Most Refinery Operator Positions, A High School Diploma Or Ged Demonstrates A Basic Level Of Education And Understanding Of Core Subjects Such As Math, Science, And English.
Technical Or Vocational Training: Many Refinery Operators Have Completed Technical Or Vocational Training Programs Related To The Oil And Gas Industry. These Programs Provide Hands-On Training And Education In Areas Such As Process Technology, Instrumentation, And Safety Procedures.
Previous Experience In The Oil And Gas Industry: While Not Always Required, Previous Experience Working In The Oil And Gas Industry Can Be A Valuable Asset For A Refinery Operator. This Experience Can Include Working In A Refinery, Chemical Plant, Or Related Facility, And Can Help Demonstrate A Candidate’s Knowledge Of Industry Processes And Equipment.
Strong Mechanical Aptitude: Refinery Operators Must Have A Strong Mechanical Aptitude, As They Are Responsible For Operating And Maintaining Complex Equipment And Machinery. Candidates Should Possess A Good Understanding Of How Equipment Works And The Ability To Troubleshoot And Make Adjustments As Needed.
Safety Training And Certifications: Working In A Refinery Can Be Hazardous, So Safety Is A Top Priority. Candidates For A Refinery Operator Position Should Have Completed Safety Training And Hold Certifications Such As Osha Or Process Safety Management (Psm). This Shows A Commitment To Safe Work Practices And A Knowledge Of How To Respond In Emergency Situations.
