Summary

Set direction and standards to meet customer requirements for automation packaging solutions. Deliver complex systematic new products (NPI) from concept through commercialization via the Ranpak stage gate process, and support legacy automation products. Collaborate cross-functionally as needed, with R D, IT, Marketing, Sales, Service, Quality and Operations and lead automation engineering efforts to enhance customer satisfaction. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage an engineering department by setting the dept. direction and standards for the development of automated engineered systems to provide automated packaging solutions. Mechanical Engineering Manager
  • Strong understanding of automation equipment design processes. Ability to lead development of complex equipment from a proven feasibility concept through to a solution launch and beyond. Spearhead technology architecture (future technologies) and lead modular design. Use and champion best practices as it relates to design for (dis)assembly, serviceability, and ease of use. · Good understanding of equipment reliability, and key metrics such as OEE (overall equipment effectiveness, etc.)

  • Support legacy products based on feedback from customers (internal and external), in partnership with Service and Quality.
  • Provide guidance to your team to keep projects on budget and schedule, and to expected quality standards.

  • Supervise prototype builds and coordinate testing programs for new product releases and/or design changes.
  • Participate in projects including new product development, customized products, existing product maintenance, quality improvements, and cost reduction.

Qualifications

-Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering; Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from accredited four-year college or university; and a minimum of three(3) years relevant experience.
-Machine design experience is a plus.

-Minimum of three(3) years of solid modeling CAD experience is required. Solidworks preferred. Mechanical Engineering Manager

-Experience with FEA analysis tools is a plus.
-Familiar with various types of cushioning and void fill materials is a plus.
-Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
-Good interpersonal skills-maturity, poise, and tact. Mechanical Engineering Manager
-Familiarity with lean manufacturing and design for six sigma is a plus.
