Description

The Remote Director will oversee the line-directing of on-air productions for live, remote sporting events. This role requires collaboration with college and university sports production departments to provide continuity and expertise. You will work with Producers and Coordinating Producers to determine the creative and technical direction of live telecasts, as well as partnering with the Event Operations department to assess technical facility needs and personnel requirements. During live productions, the Remote Director is accountable for executing the technical production, adapting broadcast coverage plans as live events unfold, and directing the technical crew involved.

Responsibilities

Provide instruction on all television production roles to schools
Liaise with school production partners for feedback on student-created content
Assess equipment and recommend production techniques during campus visits
Plan and execute live event productions while documenting assigned events
Make real-time decisions about broadcast content and coverage
Collaborate with Producers and Operations for camera placements
Direct technical crews and conduct production meetings
Research teams and players to stay knowledgeable about assigned events
Provide direction to on-air talent before and during broadcasts
Troubleshoot operational issues during live events
Ensure accurate insertion of commercials and promotions
Communicate with various stakeholders including conferences and teams

Qualifications

A valid Driver’s License is required
Minimum of 4 years of progressively complex live sporting event directing experience
In-depth knowledge of live remote sporting event directing processes
Understanding of financial implications related to directing events is preferred
